Mange Filter is an award winning Twitter management tool. I used to use another service which decided to close it's doors and so I needed to find another solution. I am new to this system and even though I use systems like SocialOomph, Hootsuite I still find that each system even though they share similar functions, each one does things better than the rest.
Manager Filter helps me delete and sift through non-followers that I follow. Those of you who are actively growing your Twitter base and are not a celebrity realize that the strategy is typically to follow people and they follow you back. But once you get past following 5000 accounts then the system will regulate you based on ratio of followers to following and you get an error stating that you can't follow any more people. Thus the need for a service like Manage Filter.
San Diego,CA-(blog) Twitter is experimenting with expanding the 140 character limit to 280. I am excited to say that I was lucky enough to be included in that beta group, and I dig it.
Back in the day when Twitter launched, I remember trying to explain what Twitter was. We used to say it’s mini blogging... which then led to the question...what is blogging? Well it's writing on a blog. OK what is a blog, etc. etc. etc. The explanation I like to give now is that it’s more like texting to the public. A normal tweet has 140 character limit, a text has 160 the new beta Twitter is 280.
TOP 5-10 Reasons why Twitter should keep the expanded 280 character limit.
1. Express Yourself : With the 280 character limit, I find it easier to craft a more natural complete thought. I also find myself actually being able to use adjectives rather than sacrificing them for brevity. This according to Twitter’s blog post is exactly the reason for the expansion, “9% of all Tweet in English hit the 140 character limit.”.
2. Quicker learning curve for beginners : For those new to Twitter or who never got quite started on Twitter, the 280 character limit will help attract a new or renewed audience.
3. Better Grammar: Speaking of using adjectives, you also get to write in multiple, more correct sentences. I find myself being able to express a complete thought and then add #hashtags. Yes, I am still including some of the text within a sentence structure #hashtagged, but it’s a lot more forgiving and interesting.
4. More characters means more #Hashtags: If your goal is to be read or seen and grow your Twitter following and increase your brand, then the consistent use of #hashtags helps. For example, #actorslife #setlife #entrepreneur these are hashtags I use often, and because of it I get new followers and traffic from those consistent and expanded hashtags.
"Twitter's new 280 limit means more characters which means more #hashtags which means more traffic." -DavidKamatoy.guru
5. Twitter is relevant again: Social media has a tendency to be quickly generational. (Those damn kids on MySpace. Back in my day we used Compuserve and we liked it.) This current generation has a tendency to move towards Instagram and Snapchat vs. Twitter and Facebook. I tell people of all generations that we must communicate with people on whatever platform that they are on. So while your friends are on Instagram, the people hiring you might be on LinkedIn and the people you need to impress may be on Facebook. That and posting a resume on Snapchat doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Twitter has a tendency to be more in the middle and have the best of both worlds. Which is why I focus my efforts here and I try get my clients both in entertainment and business to do the same. Even if you have a dominant presence on other platforms, I still have people focus on Twitter.
Many of the early adopters have a strong presence on Twitter: popular entertainers, business people, platforms, and yes even President Trump is part of the reason that Twitter is relevant. You can be as light or as heavy as you would like, but the fact that the platform allows that lean towards the intellectual makes a lot of sense. Also, Twitter algorithms are a lot less restrictive than Facebook. In Facebook your posts are extremely limited and you often need to pay to play for more exposure. In Twitter your tweets and interactions have a better chance of being seen, and vice versa. Especially now with the character expansion..
Also Twitter has been the most open towards API integration, it seems. The ability to use programs like Hootsuite, Socialoomph, Klout and Manageflitter to manage the data and build a following is exciting.
Random points: As a reference point you can read the blog post about their reasoning for expanding the character limit here.
Not everyone has the 280 limit (including President Trump), and so popular programs that allow you to post from their sites are still using a 140 character default. So I am actually copying and pasting into Twitter natively so I can expand my message.
Financially: Let’s face it Twitter is still trying to figure that one out. But they continue to hold their insane evaluation. So hopefully this experiment will be fruitful to them. If Twitter ever wants to fly my team in to brainstorm on how this thing can make money, I would love to do that.
Conclusion: I hope it sticks. I think it helps the English language. I think it helps us express ourselves, and finally I think that we as users get more out of it with the ability to add #hashtags and be seen by more relevant viewers.

Anaheim, CA- Wondercon is normally held in San Francisco however due to renovations it ended up in Anaheim right next to Disneyland.I stopped in for a bit to visit with Ned Cato Jr., Sarah Richard, Erin Leong, Once Upon A Time and a Shrug Guy.
Great Idea! It basically worked and attracted some of the Comic Con crowd, most likely a lot of people that don't make it to Comic Con. The show in San Francisco definitely has it's own regional character which was sort of missing.
From my side, I enjoyed interviewing and talking to a few vendors/artists that can't make it to Comic Con since Comic Con has a huge waiting list and is a lot more pricey. So it's a great place to seek out some up and coming talent.
Erin Leong was an illustrator out of San Francisco. Liked her work and it actually reminded me a bit of a few sketches my old friend Lou Romano has on his blog, which was cool.
Sarah Richard was cool. New Hamphsire based, she has a great soft edgy look. A theme that pervades her personality, dresss and artwork. She looks like an acrobat, turned out to be a former gymnast. We'll try to get her into some circus arts soon. Apparently there are no circus schools in New Hamphsire..WHAT?
This SHRUG GUY was hysterical. Partly because I saw that he did this for hours. Street performers KUDOS man.
Apparently from a Vendor side there were a few more lookers than buyers/collectors.
I think it's clear that another mini con in Southern CA is viable however I predict that Wondercons return to San Francisco will be welcomed back with open arms and an uptick in attendance next year.
I did shoot a bit of the Once Upon A Time Producers Q & A. I was supposed to catch up them in the Press Room but got entangled by a bridge under dwarf construction. Apparently they had a PRESS BOX which was located next to the main stage. Which was the absolutely worst area to shoot anything. I have no idea what they were thinking must be a Anaheim Convention Center thing.
This was the same convention center that Erin K. & I walked into for MHOF and asked for the ballroom that was in the same building. I was told to walk around the entire structure when We should have been told to walk across the floor and take the elevator...Really!
We have video of this stuff coming soon.
Ned Cato Jr. from GeekRoundTable.com and I hung out for a bit as he was trouble shooting for the Con. We are looking forward to Comic Con and bringing you more interesting Geek type footage.=).
Apparently it looks like Tweetdeck a long favored twitter and social media management program is / could be/ rumored to be bought by twitter for 40 million.
One of the biggest problems with Twitter from the begining was trying to understand how to make it easily interactive. When your friends list starts hitting over 5,000 it gets a little crazy.
In the begining of twitter we all felt much closer because we we're ahead of the curve and I met some great people. I am in the process of reconnecting with some of my original twitter contacts this week.
If the rumors are true... Congratulations to the ever quiet tweetdeck that if I remember I actually emailed and asked about their revenue model and they quietly dodged the question lol.
Twitter is launching another revenue angle via @earlybird. As an early adopter to twitter I was still not necessarily an early advertiser to twitter. I saw the writing on the twitter wall like most of social media that it was a CONTENT driven platform for pr and credibility.
The challenge for clients is hey HOW IS THIS TWITTER THING MAKING ME MONEY?
As an early adopter it's funny to now see retail chains like pep boys have shelf signs that have facebook and twitter icons on them.
We technically can't directly advertise on twitter these days unless it's blessed by twitter or it's somehow guised in content.
So check out @earlybird. I suggest following and then see if can work for you. I think I am going to request a rate card. WE SHALL SEE...
Peeps, iPad, Blogs.com, Ricky Martin, Internet Marketing, Home Business Success Kit with Mick Moore
San Diego, CA - Episode 2 of "Blog This with David Kamatoy" is now available on Viddler, YouTube, and DavidKamatoy.com. Emarketing is the focus for this episode covering blogs.com, twitter tips, and Mick Moore's "Home Business Success Kit," a home education kit for starting an online business. The show also briefly touches on the iPad launch and the not so surprising Ricky Martin entertainment news.
The show starts off with a notably bright change in its virtual set, "The tone of the show is rather tongue-in-cheek anyway, so going with the bold strokes crayon-type news set is kinda fun." says host David Kamatoy.
On the first part of the show David features Blogs.com, a top ten blog site run by Six Apart, "A great resource for successful blogs." WrongButFunny.com is highlighted as blogger Brad French's Peep Photography was chosen for the Top Ten in the Chicago Tribune's annual "Peeps Diorama Contest." Twitter sites to explore include splitweet.com, tweetdeck, and mashable. David also talks about comically being denied access to a twitter group promoting blogs and a somewhat annoying example of email marketing. Ricky Martin's unsurprising revelation of his personal preferences also pops up in this section of the show.
The second part of the show is a promotional interview between TV Personality Terry Burhans and Mick Moore, The Internet Entrepreneur.

Twitter’s search results have changed thanks to the addition of a feature that wasn’t much of a secret in recent weeks. When using search.twitter.com, or the search box on Twitter.com, the results now show up to three “most popular tweets” at the top, above the most recent results. For example, a search tonight for ipad looks like this:
This new edition to twitter should be a good. Most usable filtering has been done by third-party applications like tweetdeck, graders, etc. The largest challenge is to the newbie twitterers and this feature will help make quicker sense of twitter.
Here are Ten Twitter Tips, social media and it's best and worst. Hopefully this will inspire a few ideas on how to build and monetize your database using twitter. This post will be discussed on the David Kamatoy Radio Show.
Ten Twitter Tips, Successful and Unsuccessful
Examples with David Kamatoy and Morgan Westerman. Morgan Westerman
created one of the most successful viral videos of the internet and has
recently focused his energy on social media. In just a few short months
he has gathered about 25,000 followers on twitter. He is currently
working with entrepreneurs on best practices in sales conversion. He
can be followed @morganwesterman.
They rewarded dell followers by promoting refurbished gear specifically and have noted sales to prove it.
THE LESSON: They created a specific type of reward and message that was different from their other marketing. In tandem with the reality that most twitter followers will be a bit tech savvy purchasing online this was a good match.
The result would have been different if they didn't do the discounted and refurbished sales.
2. Steve Agee, The Sarah Silverman Project: Steve Agee comedian started off his twitter following by pulling off a stunt on Ustream.tv about reading all first 5,000 names live on air when he hit 5,000. He is currently at 863,420.
Really good example of someone in the public spotlight using that publicity to gather a following in a new genre. Dane Cook did it on myspace and now Steve Agee is doing it on twitter.
ENTERTAINER TIP: Remember that when your on a hit show or in the limelight. Use it to build your database. Anyone in this side of the business knows that you never know when your going to get your show canceled. In radio they often sell the station out from under you with very little rumbling. If they told you the advertisers would go away.
OWN YOUR OWN DATABASE AND GET THEM TO AM EMAIL LIST
4. Straight to Sales: Straight to SPAM! http://twitter.com/Wealth_Formula No Humanity This is perfect example of what does not work and will most likely be deleted as spam. Straight to a landing page with only one message. REALLY!!!
5. Good Porn Bad Porn: http://twitter.com/A_Dempsey While this may go straight to a porn link the good thing is the quotes and a varying message. Sneaky Porn Spam generally bad.
The Lessons: 1. Use a landing page as seen below. 2. Quotes can be quite useful if used correctly. Choosing quotes that are related to your subject matter and then either blogging about them or just reference them back to you is a good idea in creating an ideal emotion. 3. It's public people remember that journalists are now quoting "tweets".
THREE TWITTER TIPS
7. Customize your twitter page. I use Google's picassa to create a collage using pictures and logos. You have to play with the output settings to get it right but it's a great free application.
If you truly want to convert to sales or interactivity then you have to earn the respect of your followers through credibility. Therefore push content...
Blog postings- Like this one.
Press Releases-
Email Marketing: Jugglemail emails create unique URL's that can be easily posted onto twitter. We do it all the time with our press release emails.
Videos
Facebook
Other peoples content: rt someone elses tweet usually garners attention and is often reciprocated.
10. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery: Pay attention to who you and others pay attention to and then customize that style to your own.
BONUS Final Advice: Remember that ultimately you don't own your twitter, facebook or myspace profiles. They can be deleted at anytime for complaints, overuse, spam. To top it all off the parameters are constantly changing.
TIP: Covert to a real email and contact information as quickly as possible for real contacts.
We do this using the auto responders on our jugglemail system or just dropping them into the system upon approval.

How has Twitter helped or hurt your blog?
Submitted by Guy Kawasaki, co-founder of Alltop.
Most of my traffic and people visiting my blog were not bloggers and would never subscribe to the site. I got most people to join the email list or met through networking.
Twitter for me was the missing piece. It has allowed content both new and old to have life and lend credibility to twittering. Where others need to develop content to go along with twitter. Twitter gave me an outlet for the content.
In addition several new posts were influenced by quotes or headlines that got traffic via twitter.
