As the Summer comes to an end we wanted to give you a quick update of what’s been happening...
The Summer of 2013 has been both rewarding and exhausting for the KMG team. From corporate events to entertainment and the martial arts, we have been working hard to help keep the wheels rolling for our many clients. We wanted to share just a few of the many events we have been working on.
The summer began early as KMG’s David Kamatoy and producer/musician Tony Woodroffe collaborated on the musical direction for Kroc Junior Theater’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS. The show included young actors from elementary school through college age and was presented at the Joan Kroc Theater in East San Diego. With direction by Laura Hodge, this talented young cast brought the antics of T.S. Eliot’s frenzied felines to life for appreciative audiences. The KMG team also provided marketing and media assistance for the production.
Moving on into the summer, we had the opportunity to partner with AMB Publicity to cover the 2013 National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Pacific Southwest Chapter Emmy® Awards at the Red Rock Hotel Casino Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada. David Kamatoy and Jason Carlage worked the red carpet, speaking with presenters, nominees and sponsors of the 39th annual event, including Master of Ceremonies Barry Shabaka Henley. Several video interviews have been posted from the event.
With summer comes travel season, and clean car is a happy car. We helped to organize and promote the grand opening of the Sorrento Valley Soapy Joe’s, the newest location for this San Diego-based family-owned line of car care centers. David Kamatoy was joined by actor/producer Mark Christopher Lawrence (NBC’s Chuck and Mark Christopher Lawrence Presents) and UFC fighter Joey “The Mexicutioner” Beltran. Also spending time at Soapy Joe’s were radio personalities Chio from KISS FM 95.7 and Nathan Frost from Channel 93.3, celebrity photographer Gabriela Stark and Dan “The Balloon Man” McClellan.
Summer also included the Fourteenth Annual Masters Hall of Fame Awards Banquet, held at the Costa Mesa Hilton on Saturday, June 22. This was the fourth year that KMG has worked with the Masters Hall of Fame to promote the event, which honors top martial artists every year such as Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Cynthia Rothrock and Kenpo legend Bob White. This year the event honored Women in the Martial Arts and featured Full-Contact Muay Thai Champion Lisa King, aka “The Black Widow,” as guest speaker.
Closer to home, David Kamatoy and Mark Christopher Lawrence took on the 2013 Comic Con at the San Diego Convention Center, covering the action in their own unique style. The pair interviewed participants, celebrities and fans at the annual celebration of all things geek. Former triple-jump Olympian-turned-Media creator Von Ware and friends joined them to document the action.
Right after the Con Mark Christopher Lawrence was asked to present at the First Annual Geekie Awards which oddly had a lot of our friends involved in the industry. It was a good way to end the events of the summer. (Pics coming soon)
We are still wrapping up various videos and media from all the projects and will continue to post.

San Diego, CA – Talented street performers Stephen Sloan, aka "Sleeveless the Magician," and juggler comedian David Kamatoy return to perform this holiday season on the Prado in Balboa Park. Performances will be December 26-1 11a.m.-5pm.
The street performing scene in Balboa Park has long been a hidden asset of talent in San Diego. "Winter is traditionally a slow season for street performing, with the exception of the Holidays," said performer Kamatoy. "This Holiday week brings a great mix of both of locals and visitors, which makes for a great performing climate."
Sloan promises hours of high-quality entertainment for less than the cost of a single admission to a movie with beautiful Balboa Park as the backdrop. David Kamatoy's show consists of a 30-40 min. performance of various juggling tricks and ethnic stand-up humor. In his show he juggles everything from balls to clubs and even plungers. "The shows are like great cartoons. The kids get entertainment and so do the adults," says Kamatoy.
Veteran Performer Stephen Sloan, aka "Sleeveless the Magician," does a classic magic show for families that features "the oldest trick in magic" - Cups and Balls. Sloan has a long history performing at SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo, and his shows entertain everyone from grandchild to grandparent. His show is a humorous mixture of magic and audience involvement. "To be perfectly honest it's the same show we've done for thousands of people in stadiums, corporate events, and comedy clubs. It's just a different venue with it's own unique flavor," says Sloan.
"Balboa Park brings out the best, providing great, family-friendly entertainment at their finest park," says Sloan. "We're just proud to have been a part of the process for so many years."
Stephen Sloan and David Kamatoy have also performed at Seaport Village and Sea World. David Kamatoy has been recently performing in Hollywood while continuing to build an online presence at DavidKamatoy.com and expanding the reach of Kamatoy Media Group.

QUICK TIPS FOR STREET PERFORMING ATTENDEES
1. HAVE FUN!
2. Bring a Jacket. It may be 70 when you leave the house but if it gets windy or around 4:00p.m. it could get cold. Don't let a little chill ut your day short.
3. Tips are Appreciated. Think of it like going out to a good lunch with the family. You can still get away entertaining the entire family for a day for the price of a movie.
4. BYOB. Brng your own Blanket, Lawn Chair & Picnic Snacks. TAILGATE THE JUGGLER. Get front row seats and really enjoy the show.
Blog This w/ David Kamatoy returns with a brand new virtual set, new music and solid content. If you're an entrepreneur, entertainer or e-markter. This is the show to watch. Please RT, Tweet, Digg, Like and of course BLOG THIS.
We've been wanting to restart the Blog This format for a while and finally it's here. We actually shot 2 episodes but this was the one we ended up going with. The virtual set took longer to build and that was half of the restart battle. Additionally I built the show this time as template format now that we have a format.
There are a few more elements that we want to add to the show but I am finally happy with the format. I wanted something that is on the edge of crossing over to broadcast television. Something that gives a nod to our radio and television background.
The goal of the show is to be in the conversation of the convergence of media with content, being funny but not totally cowtowing to the let me turn on the camera and be an idiot. While I appreciate the work of the Viral Video Internet Stars I am constantly asking myself, "Why exactly am I watching this?"
Ideally! We want to make you laugh, think and walk away with something useful that helps you get through the entertainment, entrepreneurial &/or E-marketing world.
To be a bridge between traditional and social media in a quirky kind of way. Ideally we use this format to spinoff other projects. One that were actuall shooting this Sunday.
It is definitely an extension of DavidKamatoy.com the blog. The idea that I can talk about whatever I feel is relevant. I believe the spin-offs will become much more niched.
Anyway enjoy the show! There is my bloggy type rant for the day.
Hollywood, CA - Mark Christopher Lawrence, aka "Big Mike" on NBC's Chuck, presents First Friday Comedy at Cafe Muse in Hollywood, CA. The night of comedy will include Annie Wiebe, Matty Goldberg, Gulden, Juggler/Comedian David Kamatoy, and newcomers Lucas, and Brenda Colona. First Friday Comedy is a great place to see both up-and-coming comics and seasoned veterans.
Annie Wiebe, a regular at First Friday Comedy, is a young and aggressive comedian who, while only performing since 2006, has played in many of the top clubs in LA and New York. Juggler/Comedian David Kamatoy has been hailed as “The number one Filipino comic juggler in the world.” In addition to his rapid-fire wit and comic observations, he is perhaps best known for his signature “Plungers of Doom” routine. Rounding out the list of regulars is Matty Goldberg, a New York transplant who has parlayed a nerdy personality into a hit stand up act.

Representing a wide variety of ethnic and comic backgrounds, the group matches the goals of the conference of engaging participants in thought-provoking dialogues on diversity issues in the community.
San Diego, CA - Following a short hiatus, “Blog This with David Kamatoy” returns to the Internet covering the phenomenon of the iPad, the new film “I Melt with You,”Bristol Palin’s dating status, Mark Christopher Lawrence’s comedy stylings and review of an interview with SBA loan broker Craig G. Francis.
In his first story, David Kamatoy discusses the amazing popularity of the iPad, with more sold in the holiday quarter than many pundits had predicted for the entire year. David then moves on from the popularity of the iPad to a discussion of the lessons that can be learned from Apple’s successful marketing of this and other products. The question marketers need to learn from their prospects, as David Kamatoy explains, is “How do I feel about your product?”
David Kamatoy’s second major topic is the interview he conducted with SBA loan broker Craig G. Francis which reviewed 2010, covering several areas of interest to small business owners and looking ahead into 2011. “If you’re very serious about being a business person in 2011, you want to read the report,” says Kamatoy. Craig G. Francis presents some sobering facts about the current economic situation and what entrepreneurs need to consider as they move forward in 2011.
The final major topic of the episode is the Sundance Film Festival premier of a new movie, “I Melt with You,” starring Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe, Jeremy Piven, and Christian McKay. David relates his involvement in the creation of a “Behind the Scenes” documentary of the movie, which was shot using Canon 5d and 7d cameras.
The episode also features a video starring Mark Christopher Lawrence of NBC’s “Chuck” spoofing the Activia Challenge commercials. This leads into a preview of several comedy shows Mark Christopher Lawrence will be producing in February, including at Cafe Muse in Los Angeles, Cygnet Theatre in San Diego and the new show at the Jack Dodge Theater.

David Kamatoy is the #1 Filipino-American comic juggler, quite possibly the only one, and has been entertaining crowds for years in front of the reflecting pond in Balboa Park. He will bring his mix of humor and juggling as the opener for the evening.

She is currently working on the reality show Real Housewives of Orange County where she plays “the one with the real personality, sarcastic mouth, and smallest boobs.”
