San Bernardino, CA- FeatherandBean.com is a contemporary handmade jewelry and accessories site featuring the creations of Heather Maher.
I was lucky enough to know Heather Maher pre-FeatherandBean.com era and recently found her via social networking on Facebook. I clicked on the website link and was impressed that her personality shines through her pieces. Radiant, Fun, Beautiful and Musical. Her ability to take almost bulky objects and treat them so that they become elegant and feminine seems to be her forte.
Window Dressing Inlay Necklace A wood inlay pendant hangs from a 31” gold fill chain with faceted
sunstone and round carnelian beads. The Afrrican padouk wood pendant is
inlayed by my own hand with American maple wood and finished with matte
sealer to preserve the deep burnt sienna/orange color that is the
naturally occurring and distinctive feature of padouk. All findings are
14k gold fill. The sunstone beads are really beautiful; they have
natural gold and copper inclusions that sparkle in the sun. Wear this
long or doubled, the wide link chain also makes it adjustable to many
lengths.
Time Drip Asymmetrical Necklace This necklace has been made with the inside of a poor, old pocket watch
way past its prime. The entire necklace is about 19” long, though I can
re-size it easily if you like. The dripping chains are silver-plated
and the main chain is gunmetal. The crystals are all Swarovski with the
aurora borealis gleam. All of the crystal beads are wire wrapped with
silver color wire. The pendant has lots of detail in it from its little
parts and gears to the patterned brush strokes. The pendant measures
almost 1 ¾” across.

From a marketing perspective I would love to see more of a
personalized site and definitely a blog, email marketing connecting the
dots between her various roles. Maher's work is strongly personality
driven and I think that by publishing and drawing attention to her
handmade, custom made work would focus on the uniquness of the pieces. I would love to know about the name Feather and Bean, I would like to see her do more with that....
