Well despite my best efforts and denial I ended up catching a cold. I have this post that has gotten hits forever about "Can't taste anything." So I'd thought I'd do an addendum.
Current thoughts on the cold.
Denial: I don't have a cold, I am fighting something...It's just allergies.
Part of the problem this time around was that I was in a performing situation yelling over performers next to us with an actual sound system so it was easy to mistake the sore throat for actual wear and tear.
I dropped Zinc, Vit C, slept and had the fever break etc.
I was feeling pretty good until stage 2...Sinus
That's when it really hit me. WOW! Official miserable zone....BOOM!
What really is hitting me hard this time is the STUPIDITY!
I recently saw the House episode where the genius was robotripping to be stupid so he could actually have a "normal life". That's sort of what this cold feels like right now. I feel a few points dimmer and am finding it hard to stress out about anything in my normal obsessive future. I can't really talk on the phone at length.
So what I am doing is watching Hulu while writing. I am making short lists and trying to just cross items off the list at this point. My normal obsessions with mad productivity seem to be taking as short vacation even though I am being productive.
The key here is to create and manage the short list but not stress out about the actual time table.
STRESS AND COLDS do not bold well together.
I got lucky last time on my last cold posting with traffic. So who knows but here's what I am doing this time...
1. Zinc-In theory actually shortens the expectancy of a "Cold"
2. Emergenc C
3. Decongestant: I prefer the old school Pseudophedrine but am taking the readily available OTC new version. I think Im going to switch back.
4. Netti Pot- Flushing helps take away some of the sensitivity and draining.
6. Hand Sanitzer to limit the SPREAD lol.
7. I am notably staying away from Cheese, milk and limiting wheat products. I have been shying away form milk products again anyway. However Wheat is tough I am a big bread lover.
8. I slept propped up at an angle versus flat and that pretty good. This is new and it felt less like a catastrophe when I woke up. lol.
9. Ooh I almost forgot. Instead of a nasal spray I use my eye allergy relief drops to relax the eyes but also those sinus that are closed right on the edge. It seems like the eye drops help without the full throttle nasal spray.
10. Sugar Free Menthol Cough Drops
This is not meant as advice it's just a journal of some Over the counter
Anyway....That's all for now.
This took me much longer that normal to write and please forgive the BLOGGING FIRST DRAFT kind of tenure to the piece. I have a cold people.
A first thought would have been something gone wrong with the Moon project or Afghanistan but instead the award has been given to only the third sitting US president.
This is unique for a few reasons mainly because he has just come to office and we are still technically at war.
That being stated it seems that the Nobel Peace Prize people are calling President Obama out. I hope that the administration see's this as a "Call to Action".
This country works because we have opposition. We continue to find the middle path.
challenge is to celebrate the Nobel Peace Prize and then to figure out
how we can "own it". How can the administration embrace and surpass the reasons the
award was given?
Outreach to the Muslim world
A push for Israeli-Arab peace
Intent in a Nuclear Free World
"Extraordinary efforts to
strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples" - From the Citation.
It will also be interesting to see how the Extreme right wing pundits handle this one. They have already come under fire recently for representing a smaller and smaller demographic. What they continue to not understand is that the extreme antics and opinions are getting lumped into the "OK you've gone too far." grouping.
Recently to hear Rush and Beck actually play the race card is coming to light (Especially the Larry Wilmore take on Jon Stewart...Nice.) Hello! 1. The guy is half white. 2. Who are they trying to endear themselves to by playing this card? It was the problem with the campaign, by playing to the base demographic you look a little insane to the middle and really insane to the far left.
So in the wake of the Obama racist comments and Rush stating that it's creating an environment where it's OK to beat up on white kids. President Obama actually wins the Nobel Peace Prize. OK so this is another huge chance for these right wing guys to look even more insane by playing to the demographic. Again...
Who are they trying to endear themselves to by playing the Obama is racist card?
It's not me. A guy who is ethnic, who grew up in a black neighborhood and went to white private schools. A guy who continues to have a multi-ethnic friends and associates. A guy who voted for Obama but also voted for an Austrian Republican Governor and a Republican Mayor.
Seriously, I am a radio guy. Again I think Rush is extremely talented and when he makes some great policy observations. However he really lost me when he lost it on the air by getting insanely mad at a caller on air, I think that was one of his drug fueled rants at the time. The reason was I was taught never to do that in a public forum and he did it on one the largest public forums.
That's why I appreciate Hugh Hewitt. He's much more logical about his opinions and he is not as fueled by keeping such large advertising dollars.
Congratulations to President Obama on winning the Nobel Peace Prize!
Appreciate the opposition and let's get back to work people.

How does it affect a Pay-Per post model like payperpost.com or socialspark. Are we going to have to make a note in every post that we are sponsored by a product if we write about it or can I just create a side column that says, "SPONSORED BY"?
What if your blogging about your own product? Do I have to put a disclaimer in my own post touting my own product?
The good news about this trend is that it is proof that blogging has become a major part of the advertising, marketing and PR landscape.
The bad news is that it's going to make it tough to deal with in
reality especially on twitter.
It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
Let me know your thoughts (PLEASE COMMENT ON THE BLOG.) We will talk about it on the show this week
Patrick will be missed. His talent and training has always been an inspiration to me. From the dancing background to playing manly men in Roadhouse to writing a top charting song, "She's Like the Wind."
To continually push himself to do things both independently like Once Last Dance and the craziness of "Too Wong Foo With Love" and finally a Dark "The Beast".
On a lighter note...
I had the chance to work with John Fujioka who worked with Patrick Swayze in Steel Dawn he shared with me a great story...
There was a scene in which John Fujioka character passes away and is in a body bag. Patrick's character has to lament his death. The shot was at night, it was cold. John was in a body bag of sorts and to make it comfortable for him they put a sleeping bag in the body bag. Needless to say playing dead in a sleeping bag, John kept falling asleep and snoring. So Patrick would have to lovingly kick or nudge John in the body bag basically saying...
"Wake up your supposed to be dead."
I wish that it was that simple for Patrick now. But I think somewhere in a mysterious ghost like heaven place maybe God is kicking Patrick right now and saying the same thing.
There is an empty space in the world now but it can't compare to the void that you and the family is dealing with personally. Just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. You lost a partner and that's something that not all of us can truly understand.
Just watch this video and send some light and love the Swayze family way....
While yes this is absolutely true and it has affected some of our projects as well, several projects crashed and burned from the lack of cash flow. There are also huge opportunities for market share. Starting a business is always odd just because the RISK takers are often people without good credit. While the people with credit are often those who are people that pay their bills on time and own property and are not RISK takers.
What we are seeing right now is FORCED ENTREPRENEURSHIP.
People that would not normally aggressively decide to start a business are realizing that this is their best option on several levels. Best Use of Skill Set: The Highest use of their skill set. Most likely getting a job that uses all of your skill sets when the market is poor is a difficult task. Truth be told a lot of jobs that individuals take are often sometimes not what they really should be doing but they are paid to do.
I am a high creative that has a talent for starting businesses, the job that I created for myself at a company that went from 3 to 200 people in less than 3 years was one that eventually was a job that eventually was taken over by a paralegal. Not what I should be doing.
Entrepreneurship gives you the opportunity to do exactly what you are best at doing.
No Ceiling Income: The mind has a floor and ceiling when it comes to income. Most people don't lose a job and then get rehired at triple their salary. Most jobbers end up taking a job that pays them less than the last job especially in this economy.
While yes it is going to be a struggle to start and learn any business. There is a reason that a lot of self-made millionaires are entrepreneurs.
As middle class goes they are often connected to that specific lifestyle. Often a jarring moment like the recession is the impetus for taking control over ones financial increase.
THE REALITY CHECK:You might have to do something that you don't know how to do or don't want to do.
Pay attention because this important. When credit was aplenty I saw a lot of Baby Boomers go into dream mode. In other words they tapped into the credit to explore entrepreneurship. I saw a lot of people feel their way through there saving when they should have been on the phones. They took the classes, got a logo, etc, but a lot of them ignored the basics of CASHFLOW.
Is someone paying you right now for a service or a product?
How can you multiply those results?
If you are developing a product.
Who will buy this product?
Have you done the market research to learn if anyone will buy the product?
While I naturally have the ability to peform and create I had to learn the ability to create tasks for myself. I had to learn to complete things. I had to learn to ask for help and get people around me that can help me finish projects.
Entrepreneurs:Part of your job is to create business.
The other huge dangerous trait that I saw other job based new to entrepreneurs do was this. They spent the bulk of their day doing tasks that did not create business. The danger of being a job based person is that we were paid money to do a task for a number of hours and then we got a check. TIME FOR MONEY.
If you have 8 hours in a normal business day and you spend those 8 hours filing and cleaning when your business is not filing or cleaning for another business or party you are doing the wrong task.
You have to dedicate the right percentage of time during your most productive hours to creating business, creating money.
EXCERCISE: Identify your most financially productive task. Can you double the amount of time you do that task? In doing so can you move those filing and cleaning tasks to after hours or on the weekend.
Your an entrepreneur now so be prepared to master your time.
We created several projects that are being completed and I have to split and balance my time between completing those projects mostly in the evenings and then creating business during the day. I outsource and manage my team as well so as I create a task I will outsource it to free up my time to create another project or client. If you like these ramblings please comment. I am currently working on my first book based on my dozen years as an entrepreneur and my 2 dozen as an entertainer and the lessons that I learn from both. So if you have a story or a testimonial to contribute please do.

1. Great First Move from the administration! a. The loan is just enough to help a small business. You can catch up a bit and negotiate with $35,000 b. It's guaranteed by the SBA. The idea being that this type of loan will begin to start the relationship building between businesses and banks.
2. BAD: Doesn't address BAD CREDIT a. The joke in the banking community is...
"Banks are more willing to lend you money when you don't need it!"
b. What about those of us who went to the wall in the last year and destroyed our credit in the process? This addresses good credit and not a good business.
I could have a 750 with a horrible business and get a loan. While a person with a great business and horrible credit doesn't get a loan and then basically gets destroyed. THIS IS THE WORST CASE SCENARIO
3. What's Next? a. What if the company needs additional funding? b. Will the banks start the process of working with companies to get projects funding in the right direction?
One of the challenges of archetypes of entrepreneurs is that we have a limited amount of time in one day and we have tendency to do a little bit of everything. The problem with that is when you decide to fund something like this. You usually go to known source. The problem , what if that known source really doesn't know how to get you funded.
You may feel great about working with the person at the bank. Your personal banker but they may not know JACK. FEEL GOOD NO MONEY!
So start shopping. Do some due diligence on the the subject and start entertaining different viable options including...
This is one of those instances where you do need to put a lot of irons in the fire. Especially in this economy. If it's a viable and profitable business most likely you can fund it. The challenge is finding the time to make funding a priority.
Businesses do not normally fail because they have too much funding it's usually the opposite.

Las Vegas, NV You get a true scope of what it takes to get a product to market when you walk into a trade show like this and you see established companies and products. Entrepreneurs from all over the world with some really fantastic products.
We'll be covering as much as we can while centering around the story of Chris Eader and the No More Geysers team. Steve Kovach and Scott Armstrong were the driving force behind taking a chance at the National Hardware Show.
While yes this is the place to be the actual scope of this show is HUGE. Imagine booths for every category of anything on the shelves of Home Depot and Lowes then multpliy that by 10.
