Saints Alumni Mike Murphy is running for Superior Court Judge Seat 30 in San Diego. It's been great reconnecting with him on this project. Special thanks to Carleton Overstreet Jr. and Hip Hop 5k for contributing to a great event.
San Diego, CA (For Release) - Deputy Attorney General Mike Murphy, who is running to replace retiring Superior Court Judge Louis Hanoian, joined other local dignitaries speaking at the inaugural Southeast San Diego Family Day Celebration on Saturday, February 8, 2020. The event, organized by the San Diego Hip Hop Health & Wellness 5K & Festival and other community leaders, brought together people from the neighborhood for a day of community fun and information.
Murphy joined local dignitaries including City Councilmember and Mayoral Candidate Barbara Bry and City Attorney Mara Elliott for opening remarks. The ceremony also included recognition for the Lincoln High School Basketball Program as well as for several local organizations. Following the opening ceremony, Murphy spent time visiting the various booths and displays and speaking with neighborhood residents to hear their needs and concerns.
A San Diego County native, Murphy has served the citizens of California as a Deputy Attorney General with the California Department of Justice for more than 23 years. During that tenure, he has worked at all levels of the state court system, from trial courts to the Court of Appeals and the California Supreme Court. He has built a reputation of fairness and integrity based on a record of making the right decisions and applying the law fairly and equally. His bid for Seat #30 has been supported by The Honorable Judge Hanoian, who calls Murphy “uncompromisingly fair, honest and professional.”
In addition to Judge Hanoian, Murphy is endorsed by eight other Superior Court Judges. Other county leaders endorsing Murphy include San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore, retired San Diego City Chief of Police David Bejarano, retired San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, and San Diego County Supervisor Greg Cox. The San Diego Deputy District Attorneys Association has also given its support to Murphy in his bid for Superior Court Judge.
