Masters Hall of Fame to Induct Master Jamie Cashion at Annual Awards Banquet 2011
Anaheim, CA - Master Jamie Cashion III, the senior ranking black belt under Grand Master J. Pat Burleson with Christian Soldiers Karate in Azle, Texas, will be inducted into the Masters Hall of Fame during the Twelfth Annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday, August 28, 2011, at the Anaheim Hilton in Anaheim, California. Master Cashion is a 6th degree black belt who earned his 1st degree black belt in 1991 under Grand Master Richard Morris and his 6th degree in a joint test with Grand Master Burleson, Grand Master Billy Brammer and Grand Master Billy Smith. Master Cashion knows what it means to overcome adversity, having been severely burned while fighting a 2000 acre grass fire as a 16-year-old volunteer firefighter and then spending several months in treatment at various hospitals. It was there that a new attitude of service got its beginning, and he has since gone on to organize fundraisers for the Speedway Charities, the Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers & Big Sisters and the Fort Worth Stockshow Syndicate. He also served on the Texas Governor’s Committee of People with Disabilities and currently serves on the Board of the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation. Master Cashion continues to volunteer his services teaching karate at various churches and gyms. For these and other efforts, Master Cashion received the Presidential Sports Award in Karate from President George H.W. Bush in 1991 and President Bill Clinton in 1999, as well as the Texas Martial Arts Award from Senator Mike Moncrief in 2000.Since 1998 Master Cashion has been teaching karate in the Christian Soldiers Karate program, a faith-based martial arts program. Christian Soldiers Karate seeks to develop both the physical and spiritual dimensions of its participants, and includes Bible study in its belt training. As an instructor in the program, Master Cashion has worked with hundreds of students to develop their skills and abilities.
“The first person I would like to thank is our Lord Jesus for allowing me to teach karate for free for the past 20 plus years. It is my passion and a gift that I am able to teach without charging. My inspiration has been Grand Master J. Pat Burleson, who handed down his knowledge and wisdom to others who boosted me on my way; they are GM Billy Brammer, GM Billy Smith, and GM Derrick Hayes. They have all been instrumental in helping me get where I am today! I also want to thank my lovely wife Summer for putting up with what she now fondly calls her ‘Ninja.’”
