Congratulations to Gransmaster Gary Amen for his induction into Masters Hall of Fame.
Anaheim, CA - Soke Grandmaster Gary Amen, founder of Grandmaster Amen’s Warrior Academy in Chula Vista, CA, will be inducted into the Masters Hall of Fame at the annual Awards Banquet at the Anaheim Hilton on Saturday, August 27, 2011. Grandmaster Amen is a 10th Dan (10th degree black belt) specializing in the Korean martial arts forms of Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwan Do, as well as in Aidkio, Judo, and Jiu Jitsu. In his forty-six years of martial arts experience, Grandmaster Amen has worked and studied with such luminaries as Master Andy Ah Po, Master Fred Kenyon, Grandmaster Charles Dixon and Grandmaster Frank Dux. As an instructor, he has worked with members of the U.S. Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Green Beret forces and local and regional law enforcement departments.
Grandmaster Amen considers his instruction in Tang Soo Do under Masters Ah Po and Kenyon in the 1970s as a turning point in his life. He was inspired by these masters to learn to better use his own inner chi in his own development. In the 1980s he had the opportunity to test at one of Chuck Norris’ first schools, in Lakewood, CA, and later went on to train several of Norris’ instructors. Although he won several tournaments from the 1970s through the 1990s, he always remembered the advice from his first masters - it is what you know, not how many medals you have. In 1995 Grandmaster Amen became a professor in Tang Soo Do, authorized by the Shinjimasu International Karate-Do Goju Ryu Martial Arts Association. In addition to the Masters Hall of Fame, he has been inducted into the World Soke Council in 1996, the Golden Globe Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 1998 and the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame's Hall of Heroes in 2010. Currently Grandmaster Amen teaches at his Grandmaster Amen’s Warrior Academy, where he works with students of all ages through the Chula Vista Parks and Recreation Department.
“I feel so humbled to receive this great award. After forty-six years in martial arts, being inducted with so many other great masters is an honor. I would like to dedicate this to my family, my wife and daughter, and especially to my students. I work with kids, helping to instill in them the discipline and honor that I have learned. I hope one day to see my students reach the same level of achievement that I have reached.”
