San Diego, CA - Mark Christopher Lawrence, Big Mike on NBC’s Chuck, hosts a night of comedy on Tuesday, February 8, at the Cygnet Theatre in Old Town. Headlining the event will be Jack Mayberry. Also in the lineup are Joe Charles and Shayla Rivera.

Jack Mayberry Headliner Jack Mayberry has made a name for himself opening in Las Vegas and Atlantic City for, among others, Paul Anka, Rodney Dangerfield, Jay Leno, and Jerry Seinfeld. He has appeared on “The Tonight Show” over two dozen times and on A&E Network’s “Evening at the Improv.” One of his top bits is “Channelling” fellow Texan and former presidential candidate Ross Perot.
Jack began his performing life as an on-air radio personality in Texas and Louisiana before embarking on his successful stand-up comedy career. He was chosen by Jay Leno to appear in a sketch during Leno’s first week as regular Tonight Show host, which was when he first impersonated Perot. Jack has gone on to play both traditional comedy venues as well as corporate events and trade shows. He is currently working on several writing projects, including his own one-man show.
Shayla Rivera Shayla Rivera’s career proves that even rocket scientists can be funny. Shayla earned degrees in aerospace engineering and psychology and worked for 8 years at NASA before making the change to motivational speaking and comedy. In 2001 she worked with Debbie Allen to create her solo show, “Rocket Science and Salsa,” which earned her two NAACP theater nominations. Shayla has toured with Paul Rodriguez, appeared in the Lifetime series “You Are Not the Man I Married,” and been recognized for both her comedic talents and her community involvement.
Joe Charles Joe Charles is a young stand up comedian living in Southern California and touring around the world. Joe had the honor of performing as part of a 2009 tour to entertain U.S. troops in Kuwait and Iraq. For Joe, comedy is “therapeutic” and he enjoys the chance to help people have a good time and forget their own problems.
