On my business card now I have...
David Kamatoy, juggler
I think that's probably the most interesting title I can come up with thats both literal and figurative.
One of the greatest challenges that I have and that other multi-taskers and multi-skill setters have is to share what we do without looking flaky or like a freak. Some people totally get it especially in this new work environment.
I have a tendancy when meeting people to talk around the subject matter that makes the most sense to them at the time. Remember the confused mind says NO a lot.
It gets confusing and funny however when two worlds collide. Like the time I did a juggling show for a 200 person company I was an executive at the time. Or when were holding a business meeting in a board room and in the middle of the meeting the client remembers seeing my show.
The key in these situations is to get to understand that it's how people react to you thats important. Be aware if the person in front of you is impressed or confused. More importantly if they are interested in continuing the conversation.
If you can have a clear elevator pitch about what you do thats confident and clear. You most likely can get through the muck.
Also get clear on the questions you ask them about what they do and what they are looking for.
Or just say your a consultant.
