Tuesday, March 30th, at 7:00 p.m. featuring headliner comedians Vicki Barbolak, Jimmy Burns & Scott Wood
For Immediate Release...
San Diego,CA - Mark Christopher Lawrence hosts a night of Clean Comedy at Cygnet Theatre in San Diego's Old Town. Well-known comedians Vicki Barbolak (from ''Whose Minding the Store?''), Jimmy Burns (as heard on ''Live from Here''), and Scott Wood (seen on Comedy Central) headline the evening. Mark recently finished shooting the third season of NBC's hit comedy ''Chuck'' as well as completing a run in The Piano Lesson at Cygnet Theatre. This is a chance for fans of ''Chuck'' and patrons of the theatre to bring their families for a night of Clean Comedy.
More and more theaters are making use of their typical ''dark'' nights to experiment with alternative shows like a Comedy Night. As Mark Christopher Lawrence had just finished August Wilson's The Piano Lesson at Cygnet, the timing could not be better. This is a chance for Cygnet Theatre to introduce a new group of people to the venue and for theatre patrons to come together for an extremely enjoyable event.
Vicki Barbolak was the 2007 winner of Nickelodeon's ''Funniest Mom in America'' and has been compared to such great comic women as Phyllis Diller and Totie Fields. Vicki has also been named California's Funniest Female and is a regular on Pauly Shore's ''Whose Minding the Store?''
Perhaps better known as ''The Teacher Comedian,'' Jimmy Burns has toured with George Lopez, Arsenio Hall, Brad Garrett, and the late Richard Jeni. More recently Jimmy co-hosted ''Live from Here with James P. Connolly'' on the National Lampoon Comedy Radio Network and is currently touring with Henry Cho.
Scott Wood is perhaps best known for the rapid-fire comic delivery that has earned him the title of ''Mr. Punchline,'' with runs of more than eight jokes per minute. Scott has performed at such venues as The Ice House, The Comedy Store, and The Laugh Factory, and was recently named Stand Up Comedy Champion at the Improv Comedy Club.
''The show will be a blast. We expect a lot of cast members and friends from The Piano Lesson. What cracks me up is that we will be performing on the set of Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, which takes place in 19th Century London. Now if that's not a great set for Comedy I don't know what is.'
