Twitter gearing up to launch its Paid Service

This is where I think twitter is about to knock the other social media sites on their heads. Why?

I want to control my white listing, have dialogue with the company and have ownership in my database.

Other social networks like myspace and facebook police for people doing too much business on the web. Which essentially means that if someone gets mad at a generic message that I send or if I get flagged because I addedd too many friends,  I could be deleted from the system.Forcing me to lose my contacts and start all over again.

You can't compete any more  in the arena of a Tila Tequila or a Dane Cook because they added their friends when there were less restrictions on adding. You try that now and you will be stopped.

Instead of somone from the social media site contacting us directly and stating that they have recieved complaints and they would like us to change the behaviour they usually delete the account.

This goes back to my theory of while social media is great if you dont own the database as in "Email Marketing" they can delete your account and all of your contacts will just dissapear...poof.

I think that it' s great that twitter is about to offer a paid service as as well. I think this will help create an enviroment that becomes user driven in addition to creating immediate revenue.

1. I would like to pay to be white listed. I can add and follow a lot of people.

2. I would like an ongoing dialogue with the company itself. So we can communicate best practivces in both directions.

3. I want some ownership in my database.

Watching the new Lost Season. Do you think by now they are having fun?

Seriously as I watch the new season of Lost. As they all return to the island and it just gets even more confusing. Do you get that feeling that they are almost having fun with the actual adventure. Hmmmm

I dig that Jeff Fahey is also part of the cast. Always that he deserved more screen time. There it is.

Confessions of a Serial Entrepreneur, Mike O'Donnell

I just started watching this video with Mike O'Donnell and right away I like the fact that he identifies the trait of entrepreneurs to have multiple projects.

This is something that is difficult for a lot of people to grasp. Even the people who work for you should often be job or one task oriented so that they can operate your company.

I will cover more of this in the upcoming book. One of my many projects...lol

Kids are bigger if their school is close to a fast food restaurant...REALLY?

I remember High School as being filled with a lot of cheeseburgers and pizza but apparently they were not as fattening as they are now?

One of the things that I find "wrong but funny" is that I constantly find articles in the paper like this that talk about studies being done to prove something that doesn't need proving it just seems like common sense. This is one of them...

It is interesting to look at the numbers though. It is also important to note that over 30% of America is obese already and that we are leading more sedentary lives. I mean think about all the work, study, music, socializing and game playing that can be done by never leaving the computer.

3 STRIKE "ASK RULE"

Dan and I recently decided to initiate a 3x ask rule internally. We recently waxed on how one task that we requested originally 1.5 years ago was not completed. Now regardless the excuses, delegation does not work if the person you ask to do something does not do it.

More to the point if its ultimately your responsibility, your the one who relatively did not complete the task. We want to try to initiate this policy without too much emotion like "BLAME" attached to this process either.

Many of the people that we work with us have gone through hell and back and so questioning their loyalty or intent is not the issue

If we ask someone to do a task three times.
If it's not done by the third request we reassign or do the task ourselves.

The phone has not stopped ringing and it's 10:45p.m.

I had every intention of finishing my conference calls and then sitting down and doing a ton of writing and tasks. I got a few things done but I was amazed at how the phone conversations kept trickling in. Every time I thought they were over suddenly the phone would ring or someone would email me, text me to see if I was available.

While it's not bad to be wanted I just think it's odd that at 11:14p.m. I am finally sitting down to write. In addition it seems as though the secondary screen on the other computer is failing me and I must put some attention to that as well. Hmmm

When Overwhelm Hits..DO WHAT'S NEXT x3

I occasionally hit these moments when I am trying to both process what needs to be done while trying to do something resulting in nothing being done. It is these times when I break down into creating a short list. Not a long list but a short list. Making sure that one of those items is something that needs to be done.

Just the process of focusing on the next 3-5 tasks helps me start moving in the right direction. In addition we often do not celebrate or acknowledge the small step or task. This also becomes a problem regarding self achievement and self-worth. If you do not acknowledge each step you may find yourself so depressed at non-completion you never get to the end creating a self fulfilling prophecy.

That being stated. I am writing the next 3 tasks down and just completing them. POST DONE. lol

Social Media Search Engines Reinforce the importance of a "Brand"

I was working on a proposal for a client when I decided to go on twitter and ask for some help in finding some new statistics or quotes. My twitter buddy Tiwaworks referred me to Alexa.com where I discovered several Social Media Search and rating Sites via a group called Measurement Camp...

• howsociable.com
• addictomatic.com

These sites are a great way for you to get an idea of where you need to improve your social media status. They basically look for your keyword or brand name and then give you an idea on how often they are seen on various sites like google, news, blogs, twitter, etc.

The  lesson, "PICK A BRAND NAME" or a few to reinforce. We have a group of associates that are working on social media and their own product or service and many of them have a different name for their blog, twitter, and sites. The problem is that they are not reinforcing or pushing any one brand making the efforts less than desired.

With a watered down effect it's easy to get discouraged.

The importance of choosing a specific brand to start pushing is obvious when you start looking at SocialMention.com  As you start punching in your collective brand names. Its easy to see how multiple names of the same message detract from your overall impression.

At this point I like social mention especially since it rates my twitter pretty high =). There is great merit in the other sites please note that these rating systems like on HowSocialble are new. The big thing is to focus on where you are and are not getting traction.

Approaching 500 posts...Goal, "This Week"

San Diego, CA- I was inspired recently by Seth Godins 3,000 post post to accelerate my posts. He waxed about the drip drip drip that allowed him to get some real estate on the web with some odd phrases including, "Seer Sucker Suit".

I also have some very interesting Key Words that come up often. "Cold Cant taste Anything" and "hulu tv".

We have just been engaged to manage and co-write a few more blogs this month so you should see some noted increased blogging on this site as well.

I would appreciate any comments and interactivity as well.

I am also looking for content that you the reader are interested in. As we begin podcasting again you will probably see more content related to business, self development and internet marketing. In addition to my normal coverage of the strange juggling of roles I have in the real and virtual world.

Greg Campbell plays at Upstart Crow in Seaport Village.

San Diego, CA- Greg Campbell is playing and singing at Upstart Crow. An acoustic guitar eclectic driven set of standards and covers.

Greg and I spent several years together working at Lambs Players Theatre where he was the lead sound engineer responsible for making the band and several of us sound good.

Its great to see him in another element.. You can see him occasionaly here at Upstart Crow a book store and coffee shop iin Seaport Village.

I was competing a show when I realized that Greg and Susan Campbell were standing there. He told me he was playing here so I decided to hang out for a while.
