Just Hard Work! Mistakes and Successes Included!

San Diego, CA- We have had a very productive few weeks with a lot of proposals and new clients on the table. One of the things that's hard for us to deal with is the "learning curve" It just reminds me of the juggling lesson, "You can't learn to juggle without dropping."

The weird thing is I know were making progress because this week we made a few mistakes.

The reality is that invariably with all the entrepreneurs and entertainers I have worked with the biggest lesson was to expect mistakes. In making the mistakes and learning how to deal with them is the key to ultimate success.

This week I had several nights where I was at the office until 4:00a.m. or even 8:00 a.m. hammering out the projects and doing "Just Hard Work!" It sort of reminiscent of High School or College reports being due or working on the set late into the night.

I recently waxed to someone that taking a "good safe job" could have been a good idea but that I long ago realized that I was not that guy. In fact it was only a few years ago I actually created a safe job for myself that I basically outlived my usefulness in doing. When I left the job I had really gotten use to the paycheck and it was extremely hard for me to adapt back into mode of creating the work and revenue.

There has been a lot of talk about the new "Gig Economy" which is only funny because we've done that for as long as I can remember because we are entertainers and entrepreneurs.

I write this as a simple reminder to expect mistakes. The time is now you can only control whats happening now and plan to create the future. You can't control the past. One the largest issues that stops us from doing what we are truly capable of is holding onto the past.

In the last few weeks we've just systematically made lists and starting doing what was on the list. I hope this may inspire you to again just do the work or even delegate the work.

Social Media Demographic is Older. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

• 44% of MySpace users, are actually over 35 years old
• Facebook says its fastest-growing age group is 55+
• American adults aged between 18-24, approximately 75% of them have a social networking profile.
  

There is a growing generational gap in Social Media. Those businesses that are involved in social media and those that are not. We believe in an integrated system of using social media, email marketing and blogging. Taking a Break in the Age of Connectivity

San Diego,CA- I stopped by to see our photographer today to work on some photos for the new press kit on a project. He was busy with a client so I stopped in the local coffee house. i suddenly recalled the days of sitting in a coffee house pre-wireless connectivity. When we used to all sit with books, journals, artists pads, coffee and a baguette.

Even though I was surrounded by laptops (Even one guy who brought another keyboard for his laptop which I found confusing since he was in a coffee house. At that point just bring the desktop.) I found myself grabbing some caffeine an actual magazine, a notebook and sitting quietly.

I have found that after being connected 5-6 days a week to email, twitter, facebook, blogging, etc. followed by  performing 5 shows  and interacting with people on a performance level that shutting out the world for a few hours is a good thing.

Even talk radio seems to clutter my mind these days with all the projects that are starting to break, with all the tasks that need to be done. It's hard because in this new economy your most likely going to be working HARD to catch up on projects. So that being said you can only work 8-15+ hours a day without serious drug use.

I suggest making time to shut out the world or to focus on just one thing. I know I am the king of multi-tasking and juggling. Seriously though as Ghandi once said...

"I have so much to do today I will need to meditiate twice as long."

I have a tendancy to worry about the things not done even as I am doing what needs to be done. The reality is that I can only accomplish so much, I can only delegate so much.

That being said this week I intend to have a very productive week working with the team on several projects. I will prioritize and work on finishing several projects by simply focusing and finishing what's next on the projects.

I challenge myself not to be stressed out in the doing while worrying about what's not done. Instead I will work diligently on doing as much as I can, being focused on task completion and balancing the tasks appropriately.

Focusing on postive motivation versus negative reinforcement.

And again to bring this back around, I will take a break. I will shut out the world for a few minutes through alexander technique, meditation, self-hypnosis, etc. I invite you to do the same and see if by taking just a few moments for yourself are you more focused? more productive? more you?

Google Officially Eats Feedburner As A Brand: Feedburner is Dead, Long live Feedburner.

Feedburner, an application that allows you to promote blogs was bought by Google a while ago. I was a fan of feedburner before and really not surprised that they bought the company. What I am remiss about is that they have decided to lose the brand of feedburner and allow the feeds to be absorbed by Google. So right now all our feeds are being moved over to google accounts while I wait to get some more work done.

I know that this is a better move for Google simply because it will allow them to service more people with the feeds and since as a blogger we love google because they search us. I still will miss the feedburner independant brand as the semi-secret tool of bloggers everywhere.

The Feedburner brand lives but as a subdomain of Google.

Feedburner is Dead, Long live Feedburner.

Love Negotiated Act 2, Part 2

San Diego,Ca- Intermission whispers and comments were good, really good.

"I love it." and "Brilliant" were some of the comments I heard from the crowd. I spoke with Kevin before the show and I asked, "How are you?" Kevin responded, "Fine ok you know Going Insane."

The reality is that the house is full,the laughs are constant and the press is in attendance....(To be continued)
