There have been a lot of reports regarding the death of print media.We are again watching the shift happen in front of us. Papers wont die completely but I believe (even as a blogger) that we need to formal style of news. I mean hey what are we going to comment on...lol

One of the things I predict is that we will see a print reduction  but we will see more teaser material back to the website. News Websites will figure out a way to gain market share by doing things like this...

Leno move will solving the NBC scripted show problem...

Brilliant move...I get it now. Move Leno to primetime reduce programing by 5 hours. Wow!!! nice move all the way around.

Another reason that this works exceedingly well is market share.

As a kid I remember watching Johnny Carson and because there were only 3 networks Johnny became the only show in town. It also gave the world a common reference of entertainment. A laugh that most people could share at a time when there wasn't a lot to do at 11:00p.m  at night.

By moving the show to 10p.m. Leno gets to pick up more kids/pre-teens as well as seniors that remember the late show but honestly dont stay up that late anymore.  In addition it gives NBC some continuity and a spokesperson that can carry an audience 5 days a week. I mean if I am watching TV at 10 and there is nothing else on or reruns I guarantee I will stop by Leno.

Once you get hooked as viewer into the format of a talk show it's hard to walk away completely.

My next step.... Get on the show =).

Don Yoon is an inspiration after the crash...

 

San Diego,Ca- The way that Don Yoon is handling this tragedy is beyond words. Reading this article you can't help but feel the emptiness that is being filled by the  support of the community.

When we heard that the plane crashed into houses a lot of us prayed that no one was home but that was not true.  Don Yoons family was home living in a beautiful calm neighborhood in University City.

Again as a member of the San Diego Community my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.  As difficult as times are for a lot of people right now your reaction is commendable.

Emma Watson Ponders Nude Role? Who the heck came out with this press release...

I have a great idea Emma Watson is now about to be presented in two Children's  films an animated role in Tale of Despereaux and the next Harry Potter film. I know let's put out a press release in which she admits that in the right situation she would consider a nude role. HUH?

Could not the publicity group come up with another angle with actual legs.  Maybe if she was actually doing a photo shoot or a posing for a painting. She's not even doing anything nude.

What about going in a totally different direction and dropping her into some non-profit cause. So the PR question is simply is this prepping us for another announcement or is it just a brilliant but odd press release to help sales.

This press release just hit me as an oddity. I have nothing against Emma Watson I actually like her.

NBC makes a few moves: Leno moves to a primetime 10p.m. while NBC considers less production.

Los Angeles,CA- NBC is thinking about reducing it's programing due to soft advertising and of course the every expanding market share now that the internet is taking away so much traffic. I actually watch a lot of NBC programing on Hulu.com

In addition Leo will be moving to a 10p.m. once a week show leaving his Tonight Show status but not leaving for another network. I think this is a smart move since both The Tonight Show and NBC are connected to the brand of JayLeno. There will be less seperation from the brand as when David Letterman left NBC.

The reality is that the cost(s) of producing shows will have to be adjusted by the marketplace at some point. The industry is used to getting paid well for their workOne of the reason you make more money working on a show is because veiwers go up and so do salaries. So when viewersship gets reduced but the salaries are still high advertising revenue declines. The show stops making economic sense. It's easier to just cancel the show and start over.

So here lies the problem. The industry will at one point have to make an adjustment in how much these shows cost to produce. Just as  we saw the rise of reality shows we shall see the next step of the progression. reduced programing is part of the long tail of reality shows lol.

F-18 crashes in San Diego,Ca : Thoughts and Prayers Requested...

Military Jet Crashes in San Diego- Associated Press Report

San Diego,CA- I was watching CNN when Rick Sanchez  confirmed an f-18 crash in San Diego.  Obviously knowing and working in the area I immediately turned to a local station for coverage. This is just insane terrible memories of 9/11 to the terrible DC-10 crash in San Diego when I was a kid.

It looks like damage is limited but still devastating. We have no confirmed reports of fatalities at this point. However from eye witness reports at least 2 homes were a blaze from the crash. Apparently the pilots were able to to get close to a canyon.

They are keeping people away and evacuating some due to the fire and toxic jet fuel that is burning. S

This is literally miles away from our office. The crash was in University City. Near Cather Avenue and Huggins Street
