San Diego, CA- An Evening at the Grand Guignol is Chronos Theatre Group's first full production being performed on October 8th and 9th, 2008. A few cast members performed a 7 minute scene from the show at Jon Block's Walk the Walk Sight and Sound Event at the World Beat Center in Balboa Park.
The Director Marie Miller's talented cast was able to pull a solid performance. Even though the venue itself was unforgiving with no sound support for a theatrical play the actors drew the crowd in and more importantly attention.
I have been lucky enough to see the development of this show and in doing so have learned a bit about the development and the history of Grand Guignol. This naturalist style of theatre was ahead of its time a bit of macabre, comedy and sexual farce deserves a look to see that our rather odd sense of humor has been around for quite a while.
If you enjoy Law and Order, Dexter, and even a bit of Monty Python you'll find this jaunt to the Grand Guignol fascinating.
