San Diego Ca- Mom is currently in rehabilation at California Special Care in La Mesa. We specifically requested that she be returned to this facility because the staff was attentive and also was familiar with her physical ability. We felt that she would have the best chance at recovery by returning to a facility where they know her.
Apparently she was placed in a different part of the facility which means that a different team is care taking for her. All teams seem not to be equal as she notably was in distress about the way she was treated the last few days.
Due to her pain medication her Aphasia does get worse meaning that she has a challenge communicating, that being stated, we assume that a staff used to dealing with Stroke victims would make considerations.
I believe that it most likely it comes down to a specific staff member with not the best bedside manner.
I spoke with a staff member this evening and she seemed surprised. I will follow up with management if conditions do not improve.
Care Taking Tip: It would help considerably in having a family member around to assist and faciltate recovery and communication etc.
We will adjust accordingly and for those out there that could use this advice. I hope it finds you well.
