It was early in the morning when the phone rang and Beths Mom told us over the answering machine to turn on the tv. Staggering out of bed the TV went on and suddenly everything was incredibly surreal.
I remember how it just seemed like a movie. That was the only way to relate to the incredibly powerful images that were completely real.
I remember not going back to sleep going into the office and then calling my parents who had no idea what was happening.
I remember how the death count estimate was much more than the eventual actual toll. Somehow we were relieved.
The Pearl Harbor of our generation. It is my hope on this day we can reflect on those days where we all came together. The world mourned us and was on our side. It is my hope that we can come together again to do Good and bring more peace and less war.
