Lack of Sleep Catches up with today's Workforce from USA Today - Stephanie Armour
Lack of Sleep seems to be catching up with today's workforce. Hmmmm. Let's think about this for a moment. Let's look at the economy and the fact that most people are attempting to work more than one job or more hours. Take the trend that has two people working within a household. The fact that we have a tendency to reward a high energy lifestyle.
And the increased sales on "ENERGY DRINKS"...
DUH!!!! Really.
Lack of sleep has to do with the number of sleep cycles that you go through each night. It takes the average person 2-3 hours to go through a sleep cycle. So when you wake up in the middle of a sleep cycle or you dont get enough sleep cycles you feel terrible. Deep sleep cycles allow the brain to go through a natural process of problem solving and releasing information that is not needed. Which is why you often wake up and feel better about things or as youve heard or even said...
"I'll Sleep On it."
Therefore two possible solutions for this lack of sleep issue.
1. Power Naps: The right nap would allow the mind to go through a cycle of sleep giving your mind and body a quick rest. The great Bob Hope often took Power Naps throughout the day especially when he was touring with the USO.
2. Self-Hypnosis: A more controlled way to reset the mind and allow yourself to go through a short cycle getting rid of some message units or unwanted information.
Overwhelm is really the mind taking in too many pieces of information and not knowing how to deal with them. Let's face it once you come up with a solution or you don't. The amount of information that your processing remains the same. Which is why you can often help someone else with a problem because it's not your problem and not your overwhelm...
