San Diego Ca,- I just got back from seeing Ratatouille Pixar/Brad Bird's new animated piece and it was great. My old friend Lou Romano is voicing the role of "Linguini".
When I went to see The Incredibles a few ears ago I stayed for the credits and the name Lou Romano scrolled by doing various things. At the time I wondered if that was the Lou Romano I know. Well it was.
I discovered Lou's Blog a few months ago and finally contacted him. Same great Lou Romano, one of the first things he asked me was, " How are your Parents?" So tonight I got to see my old friend animated and it was a hoot. Many expressions, profiles, and Louisms were incorporated into the animation of Linguini. The open mouth gaze, the nose, the tennis shoes...
Lou had a dream when he was in high school of being an animator.
The real story is that Lou Romano was one of the most talented actors that ever came out of San Diego's School for the Creative and Performing Arts and Junior Theater but when he graduated people expected him to go into acting. He very confidently in a very soft spoken Lou way stated that he actually was going to pursue animation.
Al lot of people at the time were confused since they only saw him as a shy kid who could really act. Well he stated a vision and went after it. Congratulations Lou. See the movie you'll understand he knew exactly what he wanted to do and did it.
Oddlly enough a lot of people stayed though the credits and I wanted to shout, hey I know that guy, but I didn't.
So tonight I am inspired by an old friend, Thank You Lou.
Ratatouille an exceptional animated film. What I love about Brad Bird's work is that he is unafraid of telling a very complicated story in a family film. So many family films are painted with bold strokes, BIG BOLD STROKES. This is not one of those films if anything the character development has some wonderful depth.
I Highly recommend this film. 5 Stars, Thumbs Up Paws Up, etc.
