How often should you email your customers? ( Found this article on Econsultancy)
How do you want your customers to feel when they get that email?
Excited, Motivated, Entertained or Incredibly Annoyed?
Part of that emotional response has to do with frequency as well as content.
A daily email is totally acceptable as a horoscope or a daily stock tip.
If you’re a musician or entertainer or you’re promoting an event, a series of emails building up to that event will be very effective. A post event email is also a great way to capture the people's interest that could not make it. However, event based emails can also cause some people to opt out because they just don't care anymore… but that's okay, you will always lose someone.
Most clients that use Jugglemail's full service option (where we assist in layout, copy and design) opt for a monthly or bi-monthly newsletter and/or sales letter. Some clients only want to send Quarterly emails. I think this is, for most businesses, too little. WHY?
Because you’re ultimately trying to create
TOP OF MIND AWARENESS
When someone in your database decides to do business in your category, you and your business should be the first one their mind jumps to. A monthly, weekly or daily email has a better chance of doing that than a quarterly. What you don't want is someone making a buying decision, and then receiving your email a month later. " Oh yeah , I forgot about those guys! Maybe next time." Whoops!!!
I also highly recommend sending some emails that are more personable. Changing the “voice” of your email can help build a rapport with your clients. Remember, people are more apt to open email that is from a person than a company. So a random email about your kid’s softball game might not be a bad idea.
Again I leave you with these questions…
