April 10th, 2007, 8p.m. Bluefoot Bar & Lounge, 3404 30th St (at Upas), San Diego, CA, 92104, phone: 619-756-7891.
San Diego, CA- Brad French and David Kamatoy, of The Dave and Brad
Show, were recently approached by Liam Clancy (UCSD dance professor and
4x4 curator) and asked to participate in Sushi Gallery's
monthly 4x4 series. The premise is to take 7-10 artists from different
disciplines and put them in an untraditional space like a neighborhood
bar, presenting short ten minute acts, works-in-progress or
experimental bits, on a 4 foot by 4 foot stage mere inches from the
viewing audience.
We've attended two of
the five series so far and have seen a lot of modern dance so we are
very excited to add a variety entertainment element. I enjoy these
things the most when someone with noted talent is really experimenting
with something. The April 10th event is slated with such talent.
We
invite you to mark the date in your calendar and enjoy a libation while
you watch our new Performance Art Piece entitled Gravity Outlaws:
Episode Four -- The Test.
MAY WE SUGGEST
Arriving early
to grab an actual seat as this event is by donation/pay-what-you-can
and is not assigned seating. Many people end up sitting on the floor or
getting standing room only as these performances have been
well-attended to date. There are 4 restaurants within walking distance
-- pizza, Mexican, vegetarian and Jack in the Box -- YOU DECIDE.
Apparently the bar allows you to bring in your food as they do not
serve any. So grab a pizza and some friends and enjoy something that is
SO not American Idol.
All the Best,
Dave and Brad
