One of the books I’ve been reading is Why We Want You To Be Rich by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki. In that book Robert writes the
following…
FOCUS
F = Focus
O= One
C= Course
U= Until
S= Successful
This is a great concept. When I was younger I believe I was the odd duck a multi-tasker juggler in a more focused world, at the time people were still
pushing GOOD SAFE JOBS etc. Now the new generations are multitaskers that desperately need
focus. So at a time when I am becoming more focused the world is becoming
more multitasking/ MTV/ internet based.
The challenge is that if you really want to accomplish
anything of great worth. A large amount of focus needs to be committed.
For Example…
Movie: It may take 2 hours to see a movie and you can do it
alone. But to make that movie cost about 20 million dollars and a large team of
people, and probably took an average of 5 years to create at least.
Video Game: Another great short attention span indulgence,
takes minutes to play. Perhaps hours if your really into it. Again to create
that video game took millions of dollars a team of programmers and a unique
vision.
Oddly enough when I have accomplished the most is when I and a group
began focusing our energy on a specific project and a strange thing happened. Other
projects also began to succeed as a result. Yes some of the projects did fall
on the wayside as well.
This FOCUS piece from Why We Want You To Be Rich was a great
aha moment for me. I hope that and this post will do the same.
Jugglers Perspective: If you are continually dropping the
ball maybe your juggling too many balls.
Time to Focus…
