Think about the 6-8 people that you choose to spend your time with (not counting your family) and  realize that they are your future. This week we ask you to evaluate the people that you spend the most time with. Their influence allows you to stay where you are or accelerate your growth.

Enrique Montiel  joined us to talk about the categories to examine...

1. Emotionally- How passionate are they? Do they fuel your project? Are the positive or negative People?
2. Mental- What are their belief systems? Are they Smart? Do they have common sense?
3. Relationships- How is the quality if the core relationships in their life? How do they treat themselves and others?
4. Health/Vitality-Is your team healthy? Do they drink or smoke? Are they overweight?
5. Success- How successful are they? How much money do they make a month? In a Year? What is there Net Worth?
6. Life Management- How do they earn their money? How do they spend their money?
7. Spirituality- Are they religious? Spiritual? Grounded?

The group that you choose seems to dictate that level of financial productivity by a  variable of 20%.

Where do you find these people...

1. The Radio Show. =)

3. Attend Workshops, Networking Groups, Events, Seminars like IBI Global.

5. You can ask or hire successful people to mentor you- via coaching, board members, etc.

Change your mindset virtually by reading biography's of successful people that you'd like to model...

I was reading T. Harv Eker's Secrets of the Millionaire Mind and this quote came up...

Stuart Wilde said, "The key to success is to raise your own energy; when you do, pople will naturally be attracted to you. And when they show up, bill 'em!"

The simple lesson I realize is whenwhat you can do is worth something then put a value to it. Ive done this long enough to know that you can give advice, services, and stuff away for free or you can charge for it. It's still the same stuff.

The more Ive seen people charge for it the more "important" they believe it to be. Percieved value is everything...

A man who is homeless gives you advice and Ken Blanchard gives you the same advice. Which one do you pay attention to?

Stuff Happens!!!

1:07p.m.- It's been slammingly busy. Last night we held 4 different events  on top of each other. It was crazy, yet productive. Lance Wirtanen, VP of IBI joined us from Alabama at 10:30 p.m. his time and still had one more phone call to go as he spent the entire day and night working with Entrepreneurs going to the next IBI Global Class.

Congratulations to Drew Hudson and Team for showing up and getting ready to go to the Class next week.

Peter Manosh of Peter Manosh Personal Training has increased his business by 33% in the last few weeks. WOW!!!!

SBA, We have a Problem...

George P Chandler Jr. was our guest, the Director of the SBA in San Diego. In his previous life he worked as an engineer with NASA on Apollo 11 and 13. It was honor to have a team member of one of the most hallowed moments in our human history.

Tonight the subject was the misconception that the SBA only deals with Real Estate type loans. In fact they deal with all types of financing including Start Ups. With Loans starting as small as $5,000 however the average is $300,000.

The reason that most people don't know about all the programs of the SBA is that they are a government funded  entity, there is no marketing budget.

Enrique Montiel was also our guest and we discussed this weeks theme...ACTION. Ideas are great but if you do not act on them, then they are wasted.  We discussed the challenge of procrastination. We referenced, Getting a Man on The Moon" was a great idea but it was the plan followed through with ACTION that created History.

Enrique flys to Cuba in a few hours...GodSpeed and can't wait to hear about the adventure.

11:15 p.m.- Yes that is a Yoda Quote. We always have a bit more fun on Friday Night as the engineers used the New Star Wars CD which has some great new music written for the new Film by John Williams. So we got a little geeky and talked about Star Wars...

Enrique Montiel joined us to talk about his preparation for the speech he is doing for the City of Colorado Springs, CO tomorrow in celebration of Cinco De Mayo. Interestingly enough he told us that while only 12% of the population of Colorado Springs is Hispanic Apparently several of the leaders of the community are Hispanic including the Chief of Police.

Enrique in preparation for this speech went about town and asked city leader and people on the street two questions.

1. What is your life about?

2. How has your community embraced you to be the best?

As part of our seek first to understand week. Enrique asked dozens of people and essentially got different answers from every single person. The overwhelming theme however was a sense of Pride in their Community.

Look at the people that you spend the most time with and realize that they are your future.

What I learned...

As I look at this frustrating but productive week. I personally need to embrace the seek first to understand model as we are looking at a breakdown of communication regarding a project we are working on.

We sometimes need to be reminded that the goal is the same and in order to be effective and successful the team needs to get on the same page.

So the Dave and Brad Show will be performing this weekend in Balboa Park for the Mothers Day Crowds. We'll be having dinner with Mom on Sunday evening.

Good News for Start Ups in Wisconsin?

10:00 p.m. - The Wisconsin Angel Network is launching a Web Site that will help match up Start Ups with Angel Investors. As we spoke about last night on the show, there is a lot of money from Angel Funding that goes into Start up and Emerging Companies that is not reported. The media can get numbers on Investment Banking, IPO's and Venture Capital. Angel Funding is Private and therefore hard to track. This article is on the Wisconsin Technolgy Network

Another Article on Angel Funding, take a look at the Criteria. The challenge a lot of us have is building a company that doesnt fit into these parameters and still need to raise capital. One of the reasons for the IBI Global program.

Fear of Success

IRS Return Check for over $600,000

11:30 p.m. - An IRS Refund Check for over $ 600,000, one of 5 checks being returned to a "59 minute Solutions" Client.

It was NASE Tuesday with Dave Smith-NASE, Steve Dahl- Marketing / Strategy, and myself. We had a great time discussing 59 min. as well as a new book called The World is Flat: A brief history of the 21st century.  Thomas L. Friedman, Pulitzer Prize Winner talks about how anyone with a High-Speed Internet Connection will be completion for any job anywhere in the near future.

I intend to interview the author. I will keep you updated.

Steve Dahl is in a strategic planning session all day with a client. I've got a meeting with a new client, prepping for an IBI event tonight before the show and am looking forward to tonight's show with Fran Cannon, Double MBA.
